
Pamela Hemann, CAE

Ms. Hemann is a professional with 20 years of
experience in nonprofit organization management. Her extensive background was
gained through work with trade associations, professional societies and
philanthropic organizations in Washington D.C. and California.
In addition to her years of experience, Ms.
Hemann brings the professional resources of membership in the American Society
of Association Executives (ASAE), the Southern California Society of Association
Executives (SCSAE), the National Centers for Nonprofit Boards (NCNB) and the
California Association of Nonprofits (CAN).
Ms. Hemann was elected to a three-year term
on the board of ASAE and now serves on the ASAE Executive Committee. In her second year on the board, beginning in
August 2000, she has been appointed to serve as chair of the Governance
Restructuring Task Force. She has served as a member of the CAE Examination
Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, chair of the 1999 Strategic
Leadership Forum, and chair of the Allied Societies Council. In 1998, she was
appointed to the Search Committee for a new ASAE President & CEO. In March
1996, she was inducted into the ASAE Fellows Program.
She is a frequent speaker on association
management topics and a facilitator of association planning sessions and board
leadership design workshops. She has in-depth experience in working with
organizations on governance, organizational structure and stages of development.
In her community, Ms. Hemann serves as vice
president and secretary of the Pasadena Pops Orchestra, is president of the
Pasadena Center Operating Company's Board of Directors and the Executive Forum
of the California Institute of Technology.
She has a graduate degree in the arts from
the University of Denver and bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska.
She has complemented her degrees and experience with courses in nonprofit
organization and business management. In October 1989 she earned the designation
of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of
Association Executives.
Prior to founding AMS, Inc. in 1988, Ms.
Hemann held senior positions with the American Association of Colleges for
Teacher Education, the Newspaper Guild, the Color Pigments Manufacturers
Association, and the National Automobile Dealers Association.
